AUTO BILD highlights rear-wheel drive, the 200 PS naturally aspirated engine and a chassis designed for driving enjoyment. The GT86 turns in eagerly and provides a rare, direct driver's-car experience. The trade-offs are tight space, limited comfort and higher running costs, including insurance.

The report treats previous owners, rather than the basic construction, as the central used-car risk: tuning and hard use are common in the market. A traceable, preferably original car with service, tyre, brake, suspension and damage evidence is therefore more valuable than mileage without context.

Inspect tyre wear, brakes, clutch, suspension and alignment for hard-use clues. 3. Inspect the underside, sills, jacking points and body for damage or repair traces. 4. Reconcile VIN, servicing, mileage trail, modifications, registrations, original parts and recall evidence.
